Sisson, Dupont, & Carder

Sisson, Dupont & Carder timbers are appropriate for structural or decorative uses. We offer more sizes and greater lengths than any other supplier in the Southeast, and we can mill to your specs. We also produce round timbers from 3 to 16 inches in diameter. In finishing our timbers we can cut gussets, corbels, brackets, or rafter tails, or if you’d like we can pre-assemble trusses for you. We do this in either rough, smooth,or hand-hewn finishes, as you prefer.

The state-of-the-art mill we added to our facilities in 2005 gives you flexibility others can’t match. We maintain the inventory and possess the capability to produce almost any size or shape, when you need it, and we custom-mill post, beams, arches, and elaborate structural members for building supply retailers and timber framers throughout the region. If you’re looking for non-standard items for a unique application, bring in your design and we will do the rest.

We’ve recently added the capability to pressure-treat any of our wood products. With our new green “borate” treating process, the treated wood is clear and stainable and suitable for both interior and exterior use. White pine is now a viable alternative to Hemlock and Douglas fir, making any timber project affordable.

UNIQUE FINISHING TOUCHES

Sisson, Dupont & Carder log siding is milled to match all of our log profiles. For stacked log construction, we typically use matching siding for gable ends and dormers, but it’s also a fine choice for use on conventionally-framed structures, and when accented by our log corner insert pieces, creates a convincing log home look.

Another option for siding or design accents is our poplar bark siding. This material is great for adding texture and interest when used with logs or other types of siding and can provide beautiful architectural details indoors. Poplar siding is naturally weather resistant and durable, with 75-year-old examples intact, and is virtually maintenance-free.

TOPPING IT OFF

When thinking of how to top off your new home or project, consider a growing trend in architecture, “rusted” roofing. Our Corten Oxidized Roofing is much more substantial than an ordinary metal roof and is the perfect finish to a rustic mountain home. Corten Oxidized Roofing may also be used as an accent or siding material.

MAKING THE GRADE

Sisson, Dupont & Carder employs a full-time certified timer grader. Our wood products may be individually stamped according to quality, should the codes in your area require such classification.

IN STEP WITH YOUR STYLE

Sisson, Dupont & Carder can custom-design stairways to your specifications and local codes. Whether you prefer open or closed treads, squared-beam, or half-log construction, we’ll provide a free estimate based upon your plans.
